I’ve got to stop this habit of assuming
You know I’d be assuming so many things of you if I stayed away
And maybe all this while
Maybe the reason why so many friends leave
Is because I assume so many things
Not about them
But about me
How useless I am
How unworthy I am
Sometimes I really feel this is true
But then again these are all assmuptions
Until you ask the person
Stop assuming.
Even if it hurts,
Ask the person,
Stop assuming.
Stop ruining your life.

“I thought I understood it, that I could grasp it. But I didn’t, not really. Only the smudgeness of it; the pink-slippered, all-containered, semi-precious eagerness of it. I didn’t realize it would sometimes be more than whole, that the wholeness was a rather luxurious idea. Because it’s the halves that halve you in half. I didn’t know, don’t know, about the in-between bits, the gory bits of you, and the gory bits of me” (Like Crazy, 2011). View Larger

Am I a good person? Deep down, do I even really want to be a good person, or do I only want to seem like a good person so that people (including myself) will approve of me? Is there a difference? How do I ever actually know whether I’m bullshitting myself, morally speaking?

Consider the Lobster and Other Essays (David Foster Wallace)

So true of me.

Surely, there were others like me, born without an inkling of direction. The wanderers, the amblers, the dabblers, united by our purposeless mantra—I have no idea what to do with my life.

Marsha Cottrell (USA)
Brooklyn-based artist Marsha Cottrell creates deft, intricate drawings of stellar landscapes, imaginary worlds floating light years away. ”The first landscape images in art I connected with as a young person were da Vinci’s “deluge” drawings,” she told Review Interview earlier this year. I was attracted to the idea that they were not representations of actual places, but eternal/internal landscapes that might be found anywhere at any moment in time. Their energy, architecture, and intricacy - but not rigidity - always appealed to me. They seemed to present an open platform with which to interact, and I’ve always aspired for my own work operate in a similar way.” Indeed, the works project space and wonder while also maintaing a strange kind of familiarity, the gaps filled in by your own mind.
